This is a well-known pastry throughout the Middle East and very popular as a dessert in Cyprus. Baklava is layered with phyllo or unleavened dough, with several layers of nuts and honey inside.

Galaktoboureko is a traditional Greek dessert made with layers of golden brown crispy filo pastry, drizzled with melted butter, filled with the creamiest custard and bathed in fragrant syrup.

GLYKO TOU KOUTALIO (spoon Sweets)
Γλυκό του Κόταλιο

Also known as Gliko, this Cypriot sweet consists of candied preserved vegetables, nuts or fruits. You will find this dessert served on a small spoon with a small glass of water added to help with the sweetness.

KATAIFI
Kαταϊφι

Kataifi is a Greek dessert made of kataifi pastry dough. A filling of nuts, sugar and aromatic spices are rolled and baked in a buttered dough. The dough nests are then drizzled with sugar syrup. The result is a sweet, buttery and crispy treat.

Even the most demanding food lovers will love this unusual dessert. It looks exquisite and has a very unusual taste. The sweet is made with thinly stretched dough, which looks like thin threads.

KIDONOPASTO
Kidonopasto
Kidonopasto is a dessert made from quince, a mysterious fruit that is hardly eaten raw. Cypriots boil quinces in water with sugar and lemon juice, then jelly the inside of a jar and cover with sugar powder. This dessert has a strong quince flavor and is likely to be appreciated by those looking for unusual and new flavours

KUNAFA
Κανταΐφη

Künefe, Kanafeh, Kataifi or Angel Hair  is a dessert from the Middle East and Southeastern Europe consisting of fried, buttery strings of dough called 'kadayif', filled with cheese and topped with sweet syrup.  Alternatively, fine semolina is possible.  Furthermore, kajmak and/or crumbled pistachios are often added, depending on the region.

MAHALEPI
Μαχαλέπι

Mahalepi is one of the most traditional and refreshing summer desserts. It is made by heating water with cornmeal, with no added sugar, and is always served chilled.

It is garnished with rose water and sugar, or with triantafyllo (rose syrup), making it a wonderfully aromatic dessert for summer!

MOUSTALEVRIA oder PALOUZE

Palouzes, in Cypriot dialect or Moustalevria in Greek, is a pudding made with either fresh grape juice in autumn or with concentrated grape juice (petimezi or epsima, in Cypriot) when fresh juice is not available.

PITA tis SATZIS

Pita tis Satzis is a traditionally produced Cypriot pancake characterized by its unique domed metal utensil known as "Satzi". People in Cyprus love this dessert because it is so simple yet delicious.

PORTOKALOPITA 
Portokalópita 

(Orange cake)

Portokalópita (portokáli "orange" and pita "cake") is a typical Greek cake whose main ingredient is sweet orange. Portokalópita is very popular in Greece and is usually consumed as a dessert with coffee. Within Greek pastries, it belongs to the family of cakes called siropiasta, sweets that are bathed in syrup, such as baklava.

RICE PUDDING or RYZOGALO

Ryzogalo, also written rizogalo, is the Greek version of rice pudding.

SHAMALI (Semolina Cake)

Among all the delicious Cypriot desserts, Shamali is a must try cake while in Cyprus. 

This cake is mainly made with semolina and the resin matsoni which helps to add a unique flavor to this dessert.
